Lesson 7 we create the basic model for our door that is a model that we can build upon in the future. We also look at how and when we should create quick animations with simple keyframes within Blender 2.8 using the layout tab.

This lesson follows on from lesson 7 as we go more in-depth to work out the basics of our sci-fi door animation. Here we look more into timelines and the keyframes menu within Blender 2.8.

This is lesson once again looking at ways to make life within blender 2.8 easier. This time we look at effective ways of selecting parts of our model and how face orientations work.

One of the easiest ways of creating a fast and effective workflow within Blender is understanding what is available to use. Here we look at the bevel modifier and how we can affect a whole mesh at the same time which will really speed up your workflow.

This lesson we look at how to create certain shapes that at first glance done look that easy but knowing and having the right tools makes them a breeze. Here you will be introduced to the merge menu in Blender and how and when to make the most use out of it.

One of the most common mistakes I see with people just starting out with Blender is not keeping there Scenes named correctly and clean. This is an extremely important lesson based around cleaning up our builds and how to correctly and professionally name and store parts to make creating scenes that much easier. Here we also look at our floor creation.

This lesson is our first look into Blender curves function and how to get the most out of them. This lesson really starts to take your modelling skills to the next level. We look at proportional editing and just what is a high and low poly model so talked about within the 3D modelling industry.

We look at how to merge parts of meshes consistently in the least amount of time. We also look at how Blender 2.8 can be used to create hard and soft edges that are especially useful in the sci-fi genre. Don’t underestimate as to just how important this is in modelling.

Lesson 17 is focused on thinking about our overall scene and imagining what it will look like once it is finished. One of the most important aspects of our sci-fi scene will be its lighting and this lesson we make a start on the parts that will be lit up.

Following on from lesson 17 we go one step further and create our main front light for the sci-fi build. We look at how light direction can really affect a scene. Blender has many light sources one of the easiest and effective is emission and here we create meshes ready to make use of this important shader.

In this lesson, we make a start on perhaps the most complex model of the entire build which is the control panel. I show you how I Create parts of scenes in Blender and make sure they are scaled correctly. This lesson we will really push your new skills.

Lesson 20 is focused on really bringing our control panel into the realms of realism. Here we lay out the overall look to get that sci-fi feel. We create most of our wiring in this lesson and really start to pick up our Blender workflow.

This is the last lesson on our control panel and we make sure that the model is to a professional standard ready to have materials applied just as you would if you were working in the industry. We make sure that our control panel really has that sci-fi vibe.

In lesson 22 I show you a quick and easy way to create sci-fi fans within Blender. We look at how and to use the median point and individual origins to achieve this.

This is an exciting lesson where you will learn a lot about the tips and tricks the Blender pros use. We create our sci-fi floor grates using numerous different Blender 2.8 modifiers. I think by this lesson you will have really started to find your feet using Blender 2.8.

This lesson we create not just one but 2 parts quickly and effectively using our professional Blender workflow. We create our small sidelight and prepare our electric box ready for wiring.

In lesson 25 we create the wiring system and cable holders. We focus heavily here on getting the sci-fi look to our new parts and look at making sure they fit the scene as a whole.

Everything we build on this course is always done with improving workflow. Lesson 26 is all about making sure the parts we created in the previous couple of lessons live up to this. Afterall there's no point having great models with poor UV’s.

From lesson 27 onwards we really start to pick up the pace withing the modelling part of Blender 2.8. At this point, I feel you will easily be able to keep up and I wanted to really push your modelling skills. This lesson is focused on the rear of our sci-fi scene.

This lesson is the final part of modelling our rear walls and we make sure we tie everything into together to create a cohesive sci-fi build. At this point, we start to really see our scene come together.

In this lesson, we go back to our sci-fi door and look at getting the groundwork set up for the lessons to follow. We make good use of the knife tool in this lesson and start to think just how the sci-fi door will open and close based around an armature.

Lesson 30 is all about really establishing the look and feel of the sci-fi door. We really try and pull together many different Blender 2.8 functions to achieve this. Creating great seams for later is also our focus here.

Here we look at how to embellish our Sci-fi door by creating simple parts that really add to the effect. We also discuss ways to create topology professionally with no corners cut. Here I teach you how to steer away from cowboy builds.

Creating such a complex door as part of our sci-fi build takes time and here we carry on to create that professional looking door. As before workflow is key and model and mark seams of and go a long way into completing the door.

Lesson 33 focuses on finishing the top part of our Sci-fi door. Together we create Sci-fi vents using primitives. We use many useful skills in this lesson That will come in handy in future Blender builds.

In this lesson we establish how are side doors are going look and feel. We also look at the most important part of the sci-fi door which is the center lock. This is one of the most important lessons as we near the end of the modelling part of the course.

In this lesson, we take a look at the hydraulic system and how it will function in relation to our sci-fi door. Not only do we need to build it so that it functions correctly but it also has to fit in with the rest of our sci-fi scene.

In lesson 36 we will be adding the finishing touches to our side doors and the modelling side of things is all but complete at this point. We finish preparing our mesh for mirroring and seams.

This is the final lesson for the sci-fi door. We create seams to have great looking materials on the central point of our scene. We also work with Blenders mirror modifier to save us a lot of time and speed up our workflow.

This is the final lesson for modelling in this sci-fi build. In this lesson, we finish everything we need to in preparation for the materials and animation part of the course. We make sure everything is up to a professional industry standard.

Lesson 39 is the main introduction to armatures and animation. Here you will learn how to create and weight bones and also how to parent all these parts up. This is perhaps the most important lesson as far as animation goes. We create an armature that will make animation easy in future lessons.

In this lesson, we learn all about how to pose our sci-fi door. I also show you how to correctly name all our bones to make applying weights to different parts of the mesh a breeze. This is where you will learn just how powerful Blender 2.8 is at animation.

We take an in-depth look at animation within Blender in this lesson. This lesson could be a course in its own right as it is jam-packed with a constant supply of information. We look at key frames and just how to get that sci-fi look and feel through animation.

In lesson 42 we look at ways of how to speed up workflow as we did previously when it came to 3D modelling. We look at mirroring animation functions with Blender 2.8. We also look at problems that can arise and how to fix them.

This is the first lesson of the UV part of the course. We go in-depth on why UV’s are so important and what it takes to create a professional base before applying textures and materials. This is where we will start to apply our resolution map. A simple But powerful technique.

As we make our way through all the parts and check out there UV’s we, of course, come across a lot that need fixing or bringing up to the same professional standard as the rest of the mesh. We make sure are scales and islands are correct all within the Blender 2.8 UV tab.

In this lesson, we Prepare our UV’s on perhaps the most complex parts of our sci-fi build that being the control panel and the small sci-fi parts. By this lesson, you should have a good understanding of how to map and layout UV’s as well as mark seams and sharps.

Lesson 46 is the first Lesson where we add materials and textures. This part of the course is the longest part aside from modelling. We take a deep dive into the Blender 2.8 node system and how to import and set up texture maps.

In this lesson we take a look at both the rendering options Blender 2.8 has to offer including the new Eevee renderer. We also look at how to work with cameras within Blender. This lesson has a lot of knowledge you will need to bring your sci-fi scene to life.

Lesson 48 is mostly centered around adding materials to our floor. We discuss what makes a sci-fi build look realistic and how we can go along way to adding to realism through softening our edges with bevels and the Blender bevel modifier.

We take a look at another powerful Blender modifier the shrink wrap. We use this to create our hazard strip on the sci-fi floor. Working with Eevee renderer we really start to establish the scene.

In lesson 50 we will be taking a look at lighting our scene through materials. We look at how to use light through the emission node. We also focus on finishing the main parts of our walls.

Lesson 51 is a long lesson because it has so much that we accomplish here from creating glass materials to color ramps. We take a look once again at how powerful the Blender 2.8 node system is and texture our sci-fi door frame.

Decals are the prime objective in this lesson and we learn how using a little know Blender 2.8 addon makes this a breeze. We look at how decals need a fair bit of micromanagement to make them work in both Cycles and Eevee render engines.

We take a step back and make sure our texture resolutions are looking good for the sci-fi scene. We make a start on our door materials and we start to see our sci-fi scene really starting to come together at this point.

Lesson 54 is all about refining the door as it is the center point of our scene. We look at how to add the decals to our animation and after building up our material library within Blender you will see how fast it is to create a great looking scene with the workflow you have learned.

We move our focus to the rear of the door which we make pretty short work of now we have established our color and texture scheme. We talk about when and on what parts we can mirror textures and why we should be careful when doing so.

In lesson 56 we start our control panel with the keypad being one of the first parts. We look at how to import and use emission maps and how powerful they can be. We also learn how to copy materials rather than create entirely new ones.

Continuing on from lesson 56 we continue our control panel building it up slowly into a profession 3d model in its own right. We also prepare the model ready for the handprint sci-fi security system.

In this lesson, we finish up with the control panel and take a good look at our work so far. We look at how the lighting is affecting our scene and how bright parts of the scene should be. We also finish the wiring system of the control panel with carbon fiber textures.

In lesson 59 we learn all about face orientation and how to make sure faces are facing the correct way and why this is so important. This is where Blender 2.8 really comes into its own with ease of use and visual representations. We start and finish our front main light.

This lesson is all about the hydraulic system we use to power our sci-fi doors. We really bring these parts to life with the textures and material we set up. We also set up another emission light to contrast our cool sci-fi blue lights.

In this lesson, we take another look at our node system set up for our texture maps. We look at how to simply and effectively change some of these to make our materials fit our sci-fi scene better. We also work on our main intake pipe.

In lesson 62 we look at experimenting with different materials and textures. Now we have built up a library of materials this is made easy and effective to quickly try different looks to really push our overall look of our 3D model.

In this lesson which is close to the end of the materials and textures section, we really start to refine our lighting. With most of our materials now in place, we can have a clear vision of how we can create that iconic sci-fi look typical of sci-fi movies and games.

This is the last lesson on materials and textures and by this point, you should have a good understanding of how to bring a scene together. Now we can really prepare our model and scene for the final stages of this course.

In lesson 65 we will be focusing on rendering static images using Blenders Cycles renderer. We will be looking at taking our rendered images and putting them through Blender 2.8 compositor. Since the renderers are very different Cycles is the first we will look at on this course.

Welcome to Blender 2.8 all new Eevee renderer. Most people think that this is just to quickly render a scene and is just a temporary renderer. I will show you in this lesson just how powerful Eevee can be. We render an entire animation of 400 frames and then edit it out in the Blender 2.8 video editor.
